How we got our feet off the ground

Writer: Aaditya NairAaditya Nair

It started with a call, just two kids and a teacher which then emerged into a youth organisation.

It was during the 2020 Lockdown when I would say WordswithChange had its initial spark. During one of our debate classes, at the teaching institute called “The Hive” located in the United Arab Emirates our teacher led a constructive discussion on the vitality of libraries and the importance of reading in the community. However, we slowly began to realize the underuse of libraries in our districts, and the decline in reading rates for young kids, especially those below the age of 12. We understood this was an imperative that needed solving.

Wordswithchange never looked back! Our core team, Hridaya and I, had been through it all! From contacting libraries to improve their expertise across the country, initiating local reading challenges in small organisations across the emirate, to building and making relationships with third-party sponsorship companies (Pic2Read Today) and finally planning an upcoming international charity book drive working with several NGOs on a global scale- WE JUST KEPT MOVING FORWARD!

To say WordswithChange has reached its peak is far from true… We are just scraping the surface here. Our organisation has ideas, visions and goals that are still waiting to be fulfilled and we hope you can join on that journey together here as well 😊

Till next time,

Aaditya!
